Friday's, Fun with Food

This week we made HOMEMADE OREO Cookies. They were delicious! My sister makes these often & I rarely, if ever do, so we decided to give it a go this week. I will post the recipe a the bottom, but first will share some helpful hints that worked for us.

When we rolled up our cookie balls we did them pretty small so our Oreo's would be bite size. This way I found we enjoyed them better, they weren't so rich.

We blended our icing until it was very smooth. It was easy to spread & very creamy.
After we baked the cookies I pulled them out & they were still in their ball shapes. I took a spoon and patted them down to flatten them out a bit.

The fun part! After they are cooled COMPLETELY we then frosted until out hearts were content. I gave the kids plastic spoons and let them frost as many as they could.

Then they were done & we admired our work and enjoyed them with a nice glass of milk!
Oreo Cookies:

1Box of devils food cake mix
1/4 Veggie oil
1 Egg

Mix together with spoon. Roll into 1'' balls. (Depending on the cake mix you use you may have to flatten the balls a bit) Place on cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 7-9min. Do not over bake. Remove from cookie sheet and cool completely.

Frosting:
1/2lb Powdered sugar
2 Tbs. Butter
4oz Cream Cheese

Beat together and frost between two cooled cookies
Enjoy!!
